Welcome from the Year Three team! The staff in Year Three are Mrs Hunt and Mrs Edwards (Team Leaders) in Egypt class, Miss Pickett in Madagascar class and Mrs Hutchings and Mrs Langley in Morocco class. We are supported by our fantastic Year Three teaching assistant Mrs Buckingham.
We warmly welcome you to the first year of Key Stage 2.
The children will be building on their previous learning and developing new skills and knowledge through our creative and diverse curriculum. Our topics in Year Three include the Stig - Stone-Age- - Iron-Age, Myths and Monsters - Ancient Greece, Food for Thought - food, nutrition and farming. We organise educational trips in Year Three as part of the children's learning and they will also have the opportunity to all learn to play the violin as part of the West Sussex Wider Opportunities Scheme.
The children will bring home both reading books which reflect the child's ability and library books which are chosen freely by the children. We encourage reading and sharing of books at home and also the practising of number skills such as times tables. We also provide a choice of topic and maths homework which the children can complete and return to school every fortnight. Click on the moodle link on the homepage to view the Year Three homework.
We encourage parent helpers in Year Three, who are very welcome in our guided reading sessions each morning (training is provided). We also have sign up sheets in our classrooms for parent helpers to complete with details of when they can come and help at other times. We are very happy to see you about any questions or concerns you may have at any time during the year, please feel free to either talk to us at the end of the day or make an appointment if you would like to talk in more detail.
